UPB UPStart from Simply Automated is a Windows based home automation, lighting control, PCS Pulseworx, software application that gives you the ability to easily setup and test your UPB devices. Using UPStart, you can unlock the hidden potential inside of your UPB devices to design a custom lighting and control system that is tailored to your needs and desires.
Not only are you able to configure your lighting and control system but, with UPStart’s powerful test capabilities, you can also test your powerline for noise, measure communication signal strengths, and functionally test your UPB devices. All this gives you good confidence that once you are finished installing and configuring your UPB lighting and control system you never have to worry about coming back later to fix or “tweak” the system.
UPStart is designed to interface to the powerline through a special device called a Computer Interface Module (CIM). The CIM plugs into any standard electrical wall outlet and connects to your PC or laptop computer via either a serial or USB cable.
Depending upon the manufacturer of the Computer Interface, it may be called something different than a “CIM.” In this User Guide, the term CIM is used to refer to any UPB Computer Interface.

I am receiving an error from UP start while using your usb PIM. The error is that it is an outdated version and it needs to be 3.05 I am using this PIM to connect to 2 US2-40 switches. Any assistance in this matter would be greatly appreciated.
It sounds like the computer interface module (PIM) needs to be reset. 5 taps on the button, when the led starts to blink tap the button 10 times, when the led changes the color it is blinking tap the button 2 times. Now try to connect again through UpStart. This is pretty common, UpStart reports PIM is out of date, directions are for factory reset. This is the factory-reset instruction for all devices except the US22-40.

I appreciated all the examples and tips that you’ve provided here. Really helped my install. My home is now a home automation showcase using Simply Automated UPB lighting control products. I did not have to hire an expensive electrician for any additional wiring, perfect for a home retrofit. I have multiple scene controls in my home, I push a button, 8 lights come on, also added the Simply Automated UPB scheduler timer for night time security.
